Janosch Schobin (born 1981) studied sociology and mathematics at the University of Kassel, where he received his doctorate in 2011 with a dissertation on “Friendship and Care.” From 2009 to 2015, he was a research associate at the Hamburg Institute for Social Research. He undertook research stays in Chile and the United States. At the University of Kassel, he led the BMBF junior research group “DeCarbFriends” and the junior research group “Gamification as a Sociological Problem.” His research areas include the sociology of friendship, social network theory, and social isolation.
