Jan Birck was born in Munich in 1963. After completing a technical college qualification in design and briefly studying architecture, he worked as an advertising illustrator, draftsman and art director in the animation and software industries. He subsequently worked as a freelance illustrator, cartoonist and author of books for children and young people. For the »Die Wilden Kerle« series, he created its distinctive black-and-orange visual style and logo. His own books include »Geheimagent Morris«, »Zarah & Zottel« and »STORM oder die Erfindung des Fußballs«; he also illustrated, among other works, »Bestimmt wird alles gut«. He received the Troisdorf Children’s and Young People’s Book Prize from its youth jury for »Geheimagent Morris«.
