Joachim Masannek (born 1960) studied German and philosophy as well as directing at the University of Television and Film in Munich. He subsequently worked as a cinematographer and production designer on film and television productions and as a screenwriter. He became known for the children’s book series *Die Wilden Fußballkerle*, which has been translated into several languages and adapted for the cinema. Masannek wrote the screenplays for the adaptations and also directed them. He also founded and coached the real-life Wilde Kerle football team.
