Isabel Naegele

Isabel Naegele was born in Plainfield, New Jersey, USA. She studied visual communication at the Offenbach School of Design and medicine at Goethe University Frankfurt, where she also earned her doctorate. She worked as a physician and independent designer, specializing in dance and theater. Her professional positions included Intégral Ruedi Baur in Paris, Studio Dumbar in The Hague, and the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig. From 1999 onward, she was a professor of typography and design fundamentals at Mainz University of Applied Sciences. Together with Ruedi Baur, she developed accessible design and guidance systems for the Dialogmuseum Frankfurt, among others. Her publications include “Texte zur Typografie” (2012) and “Neue Schriften. New Typefaces,” co-edited with Petra Eisele and Annette Ludwig.
