Ellen Lupton

Born in Philadelphia, USA, in 1963, Ellen Lupton is an American designer, author, and curator. She earned a PhD in design from the University of Baltimore in 2008 and taught at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. As curator of contemporary design at the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York, she organized exhibitions including “The Senses: Design Beyond Vision,” “Beauty – Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial,” “How Posters Work,” and “Beautiful Users.” Her publications include “Thinking with Type,” “Graphic Design Thinking,” “Graphic Design: The New Basics,” “Type on Screen,” and “Design Is Storytelling.”
