Holger Karsten Schmidt (born 1965 in Hamburg) is a German screenwriter and author. He studied German and political science in Mannheim and completed a screenwriting program at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg from 1992 to 1997. Before becoming an author, he worked as an advertising copywriter. He received Grimme Awards for the screenplays of “Mörder auf Amrum” and “Mord in Eberswalde.” His other works include the historical novel “Isenhart” (2011) and the screenplay for the television miniseries “Gladbeck,” which won the Bavarian and German Television Awards. From 2017 onward, Schmidt published the “Lost in Fuseta” crime series under the pseudonym Gil Ribeiro.
