Hermann Parzinger

Hermann Parzinger is a prehistorian and archaeologist. From 1995 to 2003, he headed the Eurasia Department of the German Archaeological Institute, serving as its president from 2003 to 2008. He subsequently led the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation from 2008 to 2025 and was one of the three founding directors of the Humboldt Forum. His excavations in the Siberian steppe, including in Tuva, attracted international attention. His scientific achievements earned him numerous honors, including the Leibniz Prize in 1998 and admission to the Order Pour le Mérite in 2012.
