Hermann Parzinger is a German prehistorian and archaeologist. From 1995 to 2003, he headed the Eurasia Department of the German Archaeological Institute, serving as the institute’s president from 2003 to 2008. He subsequently led the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation from 2008 to 2025. He was one of the three founding directors of the Humboldt Forum. He became known in part for archaeological excavations in the Siberian steppe, particularly in Tuva. His scientific achievements were recognized with numerous honors, including the Leibniz Prize in 1998 and admission to the Order Pour le Mérite in 2012.
