Cornelius Hartz, born in Lübeck in 1973, earned a doctorate in Classical Philology in Hamburg. After working as a university lecturer and publishing editor, he became an author and translator. He has written numerous novels and nonfiction books, including “Tatort Antike” and “Glücksorte für Filmfans,” and translated novels, thrillers, and nonfiction from English into German. Authors whose works he has translated include Liz Moore, Rye Curtis, Edward Carey, Erin Flanagan, and Catherine Nixey. In 2024, he received the Hamburg Literature Prize for translation for his work on Daniel Mason. By his own account, he developed a passion for crime fiction during his youth.
