Heiko Haumann

Heiko Haumann, born in 1945, is a historian. He studied history, political science, sociology and education, and taught and conducted research at universities including Basel, Frankfurt am Main, Freiburg, Krakow and Marburg. From 1991 to 2010, he was Professor of Eastern European and Modern General History at the University of Basel. In 1998, he co-founded the university’s Institute for Jewish Studies and served as its co-director until 2001. His publications include “History of Russia” (2006), “Dracula: Life and Legend” and “Hermann Diamanski: A German Story between Auschwitz and the State Security Service” (both 2011).
