Shlomo Graber was born in 1926 in the Carpathian region of what was then Czechoslovakia and grew up in Hungary after his family moved there in 1931. During the Second World War, he was deported twice and survived three concentration camps. He was liberated on May 8, 1945. In 1948, Graber moved to Israel and later worked as a painter and lecturer.
