Hartmut Leppin

Hartmut Leppin (born 1963) studied in Marburg, Heidelberg, Pavia and Rome. He received his doctorate in 1990 and completed his habilitation in 1995. After appointments in Greifswald, Nottingham and Göttingen, he became Professor of Ancient History at Goethe University Frankfurt in 2001. In 2015, he received the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize. In 2019, he was awarded the Erwin Stein Prize for his research on the “polyphony of early Christianity.”
