Hans Kelsen

Hans Kelsen (1881–1973) was an Austrian legal scholar and a leading proponent of legal positivism. From 1919 to 1930, he was a professor at the University of Vienna and served as a constitutional judge. He was also a major contributor to the drafting of the Austrian Constitution of 1920, which shaped Austrian constitutional law. He later taught in Cologne (1930–1933), Geneva (1933–1940), Prague (1936–1938), and Berkeley (1945–1952).
