Carl Schmitt
Author · 30 books
Carl Schmitt (1888–1985) was a German constitutional and international law scholar and political philosopher. He was born in Plettenberg and died there. A strong critic of the Weimar Republic, he supported the National Socialist regime after 1933 and joined the NSDAP. Because of this involvement, he remains one of the most controversial figures in the history of German legal and political thought. At the same time, his concepts and analyses rank among the most influential contributions to twentieth-century political theory.
