Hans-Christian Oeser

Hans-Christian Oeser, born in Wiesbaden in 1950, is a literary translator, editor, and author. He studied German and political science in Marburg and Berlin. Irish literature forms a particular focus of his translation work; he has also translated works by British and American authors, including Sebastian Barry, Anne Enright, Claire Keegan, Ian McEwan, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Mark Twain, Oscar Wilde, and Virginia Woolf. His honours include the Heinrich Maria Ledig-Rowohlt Prize, the Straelen Translator’s Prize, and the European Translator’s Prize. As an author, he published the travel guide “Dublin” in 2005.
