H. - G. Wells

H. G. Wells (1866–1946) was an English writer and a pioneer of science fiction. After studying the natural sciences, including biology, he initially worked as a teacher before turning increasingly to writing. His best-known works include The Time Machine (1895), The Island of Doctor Moreau, The Invisible Man and The War of the Worlds. In addition to scientifically based speculative fiction, Wells wrote realistic and historical novels, nonfiction, utopian works and social criticism. His writing frequently addressed social change and the future of humanity. Wells was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature four times.
