H. P. Lovecraft (Howard Phillips Lovecraft, 1890–1937) was an American writer of weird and horror fiction. During his lifetime, his stories appeared mainly in magazines such as Weird Tales. He became particularly known for stories about the Great Old Ones and for shaping what became known as the Cthulhu Mythos. His notable works include “Dagon,” The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, and At the Mountains of Madness. Lovecraft was born in Providence, Rhode Island, and died there.
