Grigori Kanowitsch

Grigori Kanowitsch (1929–2023) was a Lithuanian writer, dramatist, screenwriter, and translator. He wrote in Russian and Lithuanian, focusing in his prose particularly on the lives of Lithuanian Jews. His works were published in twelve languages. In 2014, he received the Lithuanian National Prize for Culture and the Arts for his complete body of work. His books published in German include *Eternal Sabbath* (also published as *Candles in the Wind*), *A Kid for Two Groschen*, and *Kaddish for My Shtetl*.
