Gert Heidenreich

Gert Heidenreich (born 1944 in Eberswalde) is a German writer, journalist and narrator. After studying literature in Munich, he worked from 1967 as an author of plays, travel writing and reportage for radio and the press; in 1969, he co-founded the Theater in der Kreide (TiK) in Munich. His work includes novels, short stories, poetry, essays and plays. From 1972 onward, he recorded numerous radio and audiobook productions, including works by Umberto Eco and J. R. R. Tolkien. Together with Edgar Reitz, he wrote the screenplay for Die andere Heimat, which received the German Film Award in 2014. Heidenreich has received, among other honors, the Adolf Grimme Award, the Marieluise Fleißer Prize, the Bavarian Film Award and the German Audiobook Award for Best Interpreter in 2019.
