Gernot Wolfram, born in 1975 in Zittau, Saxony, is an author and journalist. He published novels, short stories, and essays, and wrote for newspapers including the Süddeutsche Zeitung, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Die Welt, taz, and Jüdische Allgemeine. His early books include the short-story collection Der Fremdländer (2003) and the novel Samuels Reise (2005). Wolfram received the Baden-Württemberg State Prize for German Language and Literature in 1995 and the Walter Serner Prize in 2002. In 2010, he was awarded the Inselschreiberpreis Sylt for an excerpt from a novel.
