Gerhard Wolf

Gerhard Wolf (1928–?) was a German writer, essayist, editor, and publisher. He studied German and history in Jena and Berlin, worked as a radio editor and publishing editor, and became a freelance writer in 1957. His publications included “Beschreibung eines Zimmers. 15 Kapitel über Johannes Bobrowski,” “Der arme Hölderlin,” and “Wortlaut, Wortbruch, Wortlust.” He edited numerous anthologies and selected volumes and founded the Gerhard Wolf Janus press publishing house in 1990. His distinctions included the Heinrich Mann Prize and the Rahel Varnhagen von Ense Medal of the State of Berlin.
