Gerhard Ruiss (born 1951 in Ziersdorf, Lower Austria) is an Austrian author and musician. He worked as a typesetter and served as managing director of the IG Autorinnen Autoren, an Austrian authors’ association. Since 1978, he has published poetry, short prose, song texts, plays and nonfiction. His books include “dichter schreiben keine romane” (2004), “Kanzlergedichte” (2006), “Kanzlernachfolgegedichte” (2017), “Blech. Gedichte” (2020) and “Kanzlerreste” (2023). He is also known for his three-volume reworkings of songs by Oswald von Wolkenstein. Among his honors are the professional title of Professor (2012), the Literature Prize of the State of Lower Austria (2016) and the H. C. Artmann Prize for Poetry (2020).
