Gerd Scherm, born in Fürth in 1950, is a writer and visual artist. He worked for ten years as creative director at Rosenthal and organized, among other events, the Selb Literature Days and the Artists’ Days at Mathildenhöhe in Darmstadt. His literary work includes plays, novels, stories, short stories, satires, libretti, essays, and poetry. Many of his poems were published in artistically designed bibliophile editions and have been set to music by contemporary composers. Scherm was a guest lecturer at Freie Universität Berlin and the University of St. Gallen in the field of cultural and religious sociology. His honors include the Literature Prize of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts and the German Phantastik Prize.
