Georg Mascolo is a German investigative journalist who served as editor-in-chief of the German news magazine Der Spiegel. He worked for the magazine for a total of 25 years. He also headed the investigative collaboration between NDR, WDR and Süddeutsche Zeitung. In 2021, he co-authored the book Ausbruch. Innenansichten einer Pandemie with Katja Gloger, which became a bestseller. His report on the fall of the Berlin Wall was included in UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register.
