Georg Fischer

Georg Fischer, born in 1954 in Feldkirch, Vorarlberg, is a Jesuit and priest. He received his doctorate from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome in 1988 with a dissertation on Exodus 3–4, and completed his habilitation in Graz in 1993 on Jeremiah 30–31. From 1995, he was a professor of Old Testament studies and Ancient Near Eastern languages at the University of Innsbruck. His publications include commentaries on Jeremiah 1–25 and 26–52 in the HThKAT series, as well as numerous other books and scholarly articles.
