Gabriel Wolkenfeld

Gabriel Wolkenfeld, born in Berlin in 1985, studied German literature, comparative literature and Russian studies. He undertook study and work stays in Estonia, Russia and Ukraine. Since 2015, he has published two novels: “Wir Propagandisten” (2015; revised edition 2023) and “Babylonisches Repertoire” (2021). His poetry collections include “Sandoasen” (2021), “Nebelatlas” (2022) and “Waldalb” (2024). In his debut novel, Wolkenfeld drew on experiences in the Russian gay community. His awards include first prize in the Stefan Hölscher & Geest Verlag poetry competition (2020), the Hanns Meinke Prize for Young Poetry (2021) and the Ulrich Grasnick Poetry Prize (2022). In 2022, he was writer-in-residence in Gelsenkirchen.
