Frantz Fanon

Frantz Fanon (1925–1961), born in Martinique, was a physician, psychiatrist, philosopher, theorist, politician, and revolutionary. During the Second World War, he fought against the Axis powers. He later studied medicine and philosophy in Lyon and worked as a psychiatrist before joining the National Liberation Front in Algeria. Through his ideas and writings, Fanon significantly influenced the global decolonization movement of the 20th century. He died of leukemia in 1961.
