Eva Meijer, born in 1980 in Hoorn, the Netherlands, is a philosopher and writer. She has published novels, short stories, poetry and essays. Her doctoral dissertation focused on the languages of animals. Her novel *The Bird House* was nominated for the Libris and ECI literary prizes and won the readers’ award of the BNG Literary Prize. In 2017, Meijer received the Halewijn Prize for her body of work; *What Animals Really Want* received the Hypatia Prize for the best philosophical book written by a woman.
