Erik Simon

Erik Simon (born in 1950 in Dresden) is a physicist with a degree and worked as an editor and publisher, playing a major role in bringing foreign science fiction to readers in the GDR. As a translator, he translated works by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, Andrzej Sapkowski, and Vernor Vinge, among others. He made his debut as an author in 1977 with the short-story collection “Die ersten Zeitreisen,” co-written with Reinhard Heinrich. Further science-fiction collections and the collected edition “Simon’s Fiction” followed. Simon received the Kurd Laßwitz Award five times, including twice as the sole author of the best German-language short story.
