Erik Kiwitter was born in 1964 in Stollberg, Saxony. From 1985 to 1989, he studied journalism at Leipzig University. He subsequently worked for many years as a court and police reporter. Kiwitter took part in the Baikal Ice Marathon in 2008 and finished 599th at the 2006 German Marathon Championships.
