Eric Hilgendorf (born 1960) studied philosophy, modern history and, from 1983, law in Tübingen. He earned doctorates in philosophy and law and completed his habilitation in criminal law in 1996. After holding a professorship in Konstanz, he took up the chair of criminal law, criminal procedure, legal theory, information law and legal informatics at Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg in 2001. His fields of research include media and biomedical criminal law, fundamental questions of criminal law and legal philosophy.
