Elisabeth Borchers

Elisabeth Borchers (1926–2013) was a German poet, children’s author, and editor. After the Second World War, she worked as a translator for the French occupying forces. She published her first collection of poetry for adults in 1961; from 1965 onward, she also wrote books for children, including a picture book featuring twelve poems about the months. As an editor, she worked first at Luchterhand Verlag and later at Suhrkamp and Insel. Her literary work received several honors, including the Hölderlin Prize.
