Ivan Yakovlevich Bilibin (1876–1942) was a Russian artist and illustrator. He became particularly known for his illustrations of Russian folk tales, depicting traditional costumes, landscapes, and Russian architecture in a decorative style influenced by Art Nouveau. A collection of 50 of his illustrations for seven well-known tales was published under the title Russian Fairy Tales. Bilibin taught for ten years at the School for the Advancement of the Arts in St. Petersburg and is regarded as the founder of a school of modern Russian graphic art.
