Denis Scheck was born in Stuttgart in 1964. He studied German literature, among other subjects, and worked as a literary critic on radio and as a literature editor at Deutschlandfunk. As a literary translator and editor, he worked on authors including Michael Chabon, William Gaddis, David Foster Wallace, Antje Strubel and Judith Schalansky. He hosted the television literary programs “Lesenswert” on SWR and “Druckfrisch” on ARD. Together with Eva Gritzmann, he published several books exploring the relationship between literature and food, including “Sie & Er: Der kleine Unterschied beim Essen und Trinken,” “Solons Vermächtnis” and “Kafkas Kochbuch”.
