Cornelius Hasselblatt

Cornelius Hasselblatt (born 1960 in Hildesheim) is a Dutch Finno-Ugric scholar and translator of Estonian literature. He studied and earned his doctorate at the University of Hamburg and taught at the universities of Hamburg and Groningen. From 1998 to 2014, he was Professor of Finno-Ugric Studies at the University of Groningen. Hasselblatt has authored and edited numerous publications, including “Lehrbuch des Estnischen” and “Geschichte der estnischen Literatur.” He also translated works by Jaan Kross and Mari Unt into German and co-founded the journal “estonia”.
