Claudia Kemfert

Claudia Kemfert is a German economist specializing in energy and climate economics. She headed the Energy, Transport and Environment Department at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) and was a professor of energy economics and sustainability, as well as of energy economics and policy, at Leuphana University Lüneburg. Kemfert served on the German Advisory Council on the Environment and was a member of the presidium of the German Society of the Club of Rome. She also advised political and international institutions, including the World Bank and the United Nations, and worked as a reviewer for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). A recipient of multiple awards, she has written several books, including “Das fossile Imperium schlägt zurück,” “Jetzt die Krise nutzen,” and “Schockwellen.”
