Christian Bartel

Christian Bartel, born in Bonn in 1975, worked as a freelance author and editor. He was co-editor of the literary magazine »Exot« and co-organizer of the Cologne off-literature festival »Little Cologne«. In 2005, he became German runner-up in poetry slam; in 2014, he was a DAAD Writer in Residence at the universities of Edinburgh, St Andrews and Newcastle. He received the Ben Witter Prize in 2018 for his comic stories. His publications include two collections of stories, a novel about compulsory community service, and a nonfiction book about the Rhineland. He also wrote plays and radio stories for children and adults.
