Bruce Sterling

Bruce Sterling, born in 1954 in Brownsville, Texas, is an American science-fiction author. After studying journalism, he published his first novel, Involution Ocean, in 1977. His notable works include Schismatrix (1989) and Heavy Weather (1996). He has also written nonfiction and contributed articles to American magazines. Sterling is regarded, together with William Gibson, as one of the founders of cyberpunk. In 2003, he was appointed professor of internet research and science fiction at the European Graduate School.
