Britt Somann-Jung, born in Hamburg in 1971, studied German, English and philosophy in Hamburg and London. After working as an editor at several publishing houses, she became a freelance translator from English in 2014. Her translations included works by Ta-Nehisi Coates, Elizabeth Gilbert, Tayari Jones, Kate Davies, Romalyn Tilghman, Heidi Julavits and Anna Hogeland. In 2019, she received the Hamburg Literature Prize for Literary Translation for her translation of Tayari Jones’s novel »In guten wie in schlechten Tagen«.
