Bernhard Strobel, born in Vienna in 1982, is a writer and translator from Norwegian. He studied German and Scandinavian studies at the University of Vienna. His publications include the story collections “Sackgasse” (2007), “Nichts, nichts” (2010), “Ein dünner Faden” (2015), and “Nach den Gespenstern” (2021), as well as the novels “Im Vorgarten der Palme” (2018) and “Der gute Mann Leidegger” (2023). As a translator, he translated works by, among others, Jan Kjærstad, Bjarte Breiteig, and Tor Ulven. Strobel has received several awards, including the Burgenland Literature Prize, the City of Vienna Advancement Award, the Theodor Kery Prize, the Outstanding Artist Award, and the Austrian State Prize for Literary Translation in 2021.
