Bernhard Greiner

Bernhard Greiner studied German literature, philosophy, political science and history. In 1981 he became professor of modern German literary history at the University of Freiburg, and in 1989 moved to the University of Tübingen. From 2000 to 2002, he held the Walter Benjamin Chair at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He also held visiting professorships in the United States, Israel, Australia and China. His research focused on drama and theater, German literature of the Classical and Romantic periods, German-Jewish literary relations, twentieth-century literature and literary theory.
