Barbara Siwik (born 1939) initially worked as a teacher and later completed a distance-learning course in librarianship. She worked for many years as a qualified librarian at the Merseburg City Library, which she headed from 1991. After being denied admission to study German literature in the GDR for political reasons, she had previously completed a course in social pedagogy in West Berlin. Siwik published poems, fairy tales, and stories in anthologies, as well as several books, including the fantasy novel “Das Erbe des Casparius” (2010), “Das Buch der magischen Sprüche” (2015), “Wohin du gehen wirst” (2015), and “Die Märchenweberin”.
