August Strindberg

August Strindberg (1849–1912) was a Swedish writer and playwright. He was born in Stockholm and died there. His extensive body of work includes novels, short stories, and dramas that are now considered classics of Swedish literature. Internationally, he is best known for his plays, including *Miss Julie* and *The Dance of Death*. His notable prose works include *The Red Room* and *Inferno*. During his lifetime, Strindberg was a controversial figure and was frequently involved in public and personal conflicts.
