Athena Farrokhzad (born 1983 in Tehran) is a Swedish writer, dramatist and translator. She made her debut in 2013 with the poetry collection Vitsvit, published in German as Bleiweiß, which has been translated into more than fifteen languages and adapted for the stage. She co-wrote Trado with the Romanian poet Svetlana Carstean; the book received the Romanian Cultural Radio Award. Farrokhzad has translated works by, among others, Adrienne Rich, Audre Lorde and Juliana Spahr, and has worked as a creative-writing teacher.
