Arved Fuchs, born in 1953 in Schleswig-Holstein, is a German expedition leader, author, and documentary filmmaker. After training with the merchant navy, he began undertaking expeditions in 1977. His notable ventures include crossing Greenland by dog sled in 1983, rounding Cape Horn by folding kayak in winter in 1984, and reaching both poles in 1989. He also navigated the Northwest Passage and the Northeast Passage. Fuchs has published books about his expeditions and documented his journeys in films.
