Anton Bierl

Anton Bierl is a classical philologist and Professor of Greek Philology at the University of Basel. He served as director and co-editor of the Basel Homer Commentary and has published extensively on Homer, Greek song and performance culture, Attic drama, and the ancient novel of love. As a Sappho scholar, he co-edited The Newest Sappho with André Lardinois in 2016, a collection of scholarly essays on the extensive papyrus finds of 2014.
