Andreas Ecke

Andreas Ecke, born in Wuppertal in 1957, studied German, Dutch studies and musicology and worked for many years as a bookseller. He subsequently translated works by, among others, Geert Mak, Cees Nooteboom, Gerbrand Bakker, P. F. Thomése and Otto de Kat from Dutch into German. His translation of Gerbrand Bakker’s novel *The Twin* received the Else Otten Translation Prize in 2010. In 2016, he was awarded the European Translator’s Prize.
