Alida Bremer

Alida Bremer, born in Split, Croatia, in 1959, studied comparative literature, Romance studies, Slavic studies and German studies in Belgrade, Rome, Münster and Saarbrücken, and completed a doctorate on the postmodern crime novel. She worked as an author, translator and editor, translating literary works from Croatian and Serbian into German. Her novels include Olivas Garten (2013), Träume und Kulissen (2021) and Tesla oder Die Vollendung der Kreise (2023). In Olivas Garten, she explored her Dalmatian family history and its involvement in the resistance during the Second World War. In 2018, she received the International Literature Prize of the House of World Cultures for her translation of Ivana Sajko’s Liebesroman and the Brücke Berlin Theatre Prize.
