Finally I read this book and didn’t like it. I had not read it before for no reason, but in my reading club proposed it and I was excited to finally read this book that recently some sensitive readers want to ban it. While on one side there’s people that says that is an apology for pedophilia too disturbing to read, on the other side there’s people that says that is a master piece and should be read even if the character is disgusting. So I was ready to judge by myself. I disagree with both views. For me it was just a boring monologue. The only characters that maters in the books is Humbert, all of the others are just random names. Even Lolita is just a reflection of Humbert’s thoughts. I can’t even say I hate him because of the suffering he cause Lolita because is not shown and I don’t feel any empathy for the guy either. I don’t think a book should be forbidden if the topic is uncomfortable, but on this case, I couldn’t even dislike the situations is just that most of the time I couldn’t find any sense to what was happening. Maybe is because English is not my native language there were a lot of passages that I couldn’t understand what he was trying to say.
