Before he can do that though, there’s one last hit, which promises a generous payday at the end of the line even as things don’t seem quite on the level here. Given that Billy is among the most talented snipers in the world, a decorated Iraq war vet, and a virtual Houdini when it comes to vanishing after the job is done, what could possibly go wrong? How about everything.Part war story and part love letter to small-town America and the people who live there, this spectacular thriller of luck, fate, and love will grip readers with its electrifying narrative, as a complex antihero with one last shot at redemption must avenge the crimes of an extraordinarily evil man. You won’t ever forget this stunning novel from master storyteller Stephen King…and you will never forget Billy.

Mein erstes Stephen King Buch: sehr spannend!

I‘ve got mixed feelings about this one. Some scenes were… questionable. But some parts I really enjoyed. The first 140 were hard to get through, because nothing really happened. Loved the last 130 pages.

Rating: 4⭐️ I really enjoyed Billy Summers. It’s a thriller with heart and an unexpectedly deep look at its main character. Billy, a hitman with a moral code, is both tough and thoughtful, and I found myself rooting for him. King doesn’t just rely on action; he gives Billy layers, making him feel real and relatable even in his dark profession. The story pulled me in with its suspense and kept me hooked with its emotional depth. It’s a unique take on the genre that will probably keep me thinking about Billy and his choices long after the last page.

This was my second Stephen King and this book also proved that I love his writing style, it’s really captivating. This was very different from the first book I’ve read by him (Misery) but in my opinion very well executed. I loved how deep we went into the main characters past and personality and especially his relationship with Alice. Some find their ”romance” weird but I think it was pretty reasonable and expected in their situation. I do have to say that it dragged on a bit at some point and some chapters felt a bit unnecessary (especially as we neared the ending) nonetheless I enjoyed my reading experience. Even though I kinda predicted that Billy dies but definitely not how.
