The first book in the multi-million-copy bestselling series about a cosy Japanese cafe that offers its visitors the chance to travel back in time. Now as a beautiful, collectible hardback - the perfect gift. Toshikazu Kawaguchi's moving Before the Coffee Gets Cold, translated from Japanese by Geoffrey Trousselot, explores the age-old question: what would you do if you could travel back in time? More importantly, who would you want to meet, maybe for one last time? In a small back alley in Tokyo, there is a cafe which has been serving carefully brewed coffee for more than one hundred years. But this coffee shop offers its customers a unique experience: the chance to travel back in time. In Before the Coffee Gets Cold, we meet four visitors, each of whom is hoping to make use of the cafe's time-travelling offer, in order to: confront the man who left them, receive a letter from their husband whose memory has been taken by early onset Alzheimer's, see their sister one last time, and meet the daughter they never got the chance to know. But the journey into the past does not come without risks: customers must sit in a particular seat, they cannot leave the cafe, and finally, they must return to the present before the coffee gets cold . . . Continue the heartwarming series with Tales from the Cafe, Before Your Memory Fades, Before We Say Goodbye and Before We Forget Kindness - all out now!

Soo good really changed my mind ….
Before the coffee gets cold is a really beautiful novel that will have you in tears in some chapters. The changes in characters are meaningful and really convey a beautiful story. The premise is a little strange at first, because the idea is that you can time travel but nothing will change when you come back to the present and you can only stay until the coffee gets cold. My biggest issue with the book was the first chapter. It feels so disconnected from the other chapters that it’s almost surreal. It’s almost silly to start with a chapter about a woman wanting to go visit her ex boyfriend and immediately go to a chapter about a wife visiting her husband whose Alzheimer’s are making him forget her… Alas, the pros outweighed the cons for sure, so 5 stars.
